Waterproof Mp3 Players For Swimming and Active Sports
Everywhere you look you will see people listening to their mp3 players. As a file format, mp3 has become one of the most successful and many types of applications support the digital audio encoding file format.
There are many types of mp3 gadgets, from very tiny to bigger external media players to mobile phones. Most people will want to use their mp3 player when they are on the move. Small earbuds with good audio reproduction make it easy to enjoy your favorite tunes while sporting and sightseeing, or doing everyday chores.
One sport area that is difficult to design electronic gear for is any sport relating to water. Watersports attract huge numbers of enthusiasts and this is obviously a big market for tech developers. It is surprising that waterproof mp3 players have only begun to appear during these latest years.
There are now a couple of waterproof mp3 players available that are specifically designed for active watersports such as swimming, windsurfing and water-scooters. These players are small and lightweight while being shock resistant and weatherproof. Even the supplied earbuds are waterproof and deliver audio to the ear when submerged.
The waterproof models made for swimmers are weather sealed by rubber gaskets that allow complete submersion down to several feet. These waterproof gadgets also have surprisingly good audio quality through the rubber earbuds that usually come with the unit.
The waterproof units are loaded with music through a usb cable connected to the computer in the same way as normal media players. When swimming, these players are usually carried in a Velcro band on the arm.
Mp3 began to be mainstream around the mid 1990’s. Those that were online at that time might remember an application called Winamp, a mp3 player for personal computers that helped popularize the file format. That the file format is still in use is a testament to it’s versatility.
The mp3 players that are designed for watersports are highly recommended also for skiing and general outdoors use like climbing and horse riding since they are shockproof and easy to use. The price is also on par with “normal” mp3 players so there is essentially no reason not to choose a waterproof model.
Because they are winning in popularity, it is probable that waterproof mp3 players will become more common and that more established brands will start to produce them.
